What is a Bypass Switch?

A bypass switch, specifically a static bypass, serves as a direct connection linking the input power source to the output, ensuring power is provided to the load without routing it through the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) system.

How does a UPS Bypass Switch operate?

A UPS static bypass switch allows for the bypassing of standard UPS operation in the event of an overload or fault. A well-designed system ensures this transition occurs seamlessly without disrupting the power supply to the load.

What is the UPS Bypass Mode?

The UPS bypass mode is activated when the circuit is redirected to bypass the UPS, bypassing its usual operation. A manual bypass switch is utilised to remove the UPS from the circuit for maintenance, service, or in the event of a malfunction. An automatic transfer switch functions similarly to a manual switch but also automatically transfers the load from the UPS to the main electrical supply in case of internal UPS failure.

What is a Bypass Switch in an Inverter?

In a static inverter system, a bypass switch operates similarly to a UPS system. It allows the system to be bypassed when maintenance is required or when an issue arises.

What is UPS THDi?

Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi) is a measurement of the level of harmonic distortion in an electrical power system. It is determined by comparing the combined power of all harmonic frequencies to the power of the fundamental frequency. THDi is commonly used to assess the power quality of electrical systems and describe the linearity of audio systems.
